6 Signs and Symptoms of Mesothelioma (Cancer)

What is Mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that lines the lungs, stomach, heart, and other organs, and unfortunately can’t be cured. Nevertheless, treatment can help reduce the pain. People that contracted mesothelioma did so at their jobs so that is why you see searches like “mesothelioma attorneys”, “mesothelioma law firms” and “mesothelioma compensation”.

Many of the early symptoms of mesothelioma are the same as those likely to be caused by other problems, so at first people may ignore them or mistake them for common, minor ailments. Most people with mesothelioma have symptoms for at least a few months before they are diagnosed.

Mesothelioma is a rare cancer caused by asbestos.

The American Cancer Society records about 3,000 new cases of mesothelioma each year in the U.S.

Its most common symptoms include coughing, pain in the chest or abdomen and fluid around the lungs. Doctors often treat the cancer with chemotherapy, surgery, radiation or a combination of all three treatment options.

While these treatments control tumor growth, researchers have not found a definitive cure for the cancer.
